How to install the infusion in accordance with SPO (standard operating procedure written by tiara febriani
As we know and we see in hospitals there are a lot of patients who are treated using IVs on their hands, well, now here I am telling you how to install the correct infusion. This action is often a life saving measure such as in large fluid losses, dehydration and shock, therefore, successful therapy and safe administration methods require basic knowledge of fluid balance.
To make it clearer, I will explain what an infusion is and what is the purpose of infusion itself.
Intravenous fluids (infusions)
Entering fluids or drugs directly through the veins in a certain amount and time by using an infusion set
v Purpose
1. Restore and maintain the body's fluid and electrolyte balance
2. Giving medicine
3. Blood transfusions and blood products
4. Provide parenteral nutrition and nutritional supplements
Here I will also tell the preparation for installing the infusion as follows:
v Preparation
1. Patient preparation
The patient is explained about the procedure to be carried out
v Preparation of tools
Infusion standard
Infusion fluids and infusion sets as needed
Needles / wings needle / abocath according to the size needed
Ø Perlak dan turnstile
Plaster and scissors
Ø Crooked
Ø Clean gloves
Ø Sterile cash register
Alcohol swab in place
Bethadine in her place
v Its management
1. Wash your hands
2. Telling the action to be taken
3. Filling the infusion hose
4. Open the plastic infusion set correctly
5. Keep protecting the end of the sterile hose
6. Hanging the infusion set with infusion fluid with the infusion fluid position pointing up
7. Hanging the infusion fluid on the standard infusion fluid
8. Filling the infusion set by pressing (but not submerging)
9. Fill the infusion tube with the correct fluid
10. Close the end of the hose and close it by maintaining sterility
11. Check for air in the hose
12. Wear gloves when necessary
13. Choose the right position to put the infusion
14. Placing perlak and padding
15. Choosing the right and correct vein
16. Installing a tourniquet
17. Deninfection of veins with alcohol from top to bottom with one wipe
18. Open abocath whether there is damage or not
19. Insert the abocath in the selected vein
20. Notice the presence of blood in the blood compartment in the abocath
21. Tourniquet removed
22. Connecting with the end of the hose that has previously drained a little liquid, and while letting it drip a little
23. Apply tape to the tip of the abocath but do not touch the puncture area for fixation
24. Wrapping with betadinsteril gauze and covering it with dry sterile gauze
25. Give the correct hearing tape and maintain the safety of the abocath so that it does not fall out
26. Adjusting the infusion fluid according to the patient's needs
27. The tools are cleaned up and pay attention to how the patient responds
28. Nurses wash their hands again
29. Record the actions taken
v Evaluation
Note the smoothness of the infusion, and also note the client's response to the action.
v Documentation
Record the actions that have been taken (time of implementation, results of the action, the client's response to the infusion, fluids and drops given, abocath number, installed vein, and the nurse who did it) on the documentation record
Now that's how to install an infusion according to spo (standard operating procedures) that I can write in this article, hopefully it can be useful.
